Project Background
House of Glass was appointed to supply and install custom glass railing and glass panel systems for staircase and corridor areas in a new bungalow and a semi-detached house located in Bedok South and Chai Chee, Singapore. These glazing works were part of new construction and addition & alteration (A&A) projects aimed at modernising interior spaces while improving safety and visual openness.
The homeowners required durable, safe, and aesthetically refined glass railing solutions that would enhance the architectural design of their homes. The installations needed to comply with safety standards while integrating seamlessly with staircase structures, corridor walkways, and existing renovation finishes.
Solution: Laminated and Toughened Glass Railing System
House of Glass installed custom laminated and toughened glass railing systems designed specifically for staircase and corridor applications in landed residential properties.
Laminated safety glass was selected due to its superior strength and safety performance. The laminated structure ensures that even in rare breakage situations, the glass remains bonded and intact, reducing safety risks. Toughened (tempered) glass panels were also used for additional strength and durability.
The glass panels were secured using high-quality stainless steel fittings, providing structural stability and corrosion resistance. Wooden handrail tops were incorporated into selected areas to enhance grip comfort and complement the home’s interior design, combining safety with a refined aesthetic finish.
Scope of Work
- House of Glass provided complete glazing services, including supply, fabrication, and installation of custom glass railing and glass panel systems for multiple areas within the landed homes.
- The project included installation of glass corridor railings using laminated glass panels secured with stainless steel fittings and finished with wooden handrail tops. Glass railing systems were also installed along staircases and common areas within multi-storey residential properties to provide safe and durable fall protection.
- In addition, new glass panels were fabricated and installed to serve as protective barriers while maintaining visual openness. All glass panels were custom measured and fabricated to ensure precise alignment with staircase and corridor structures.
- The projects were completed within approximately 2 to 3 weeks, including fabrication and installation.
