House of Glass was engaged to carry out urgent replacement of a shattered canopy glass panel at Centro Residences, a condominium located in Ang Mo Kio, Singapore. The damaged canopy posed an immediate safety risk to residents and required prompt removal and replacement to restore structural safety and weather protection.
As the glass canopy was installed above a residential window area, the replacement needed to meet strict safety standards while maintaining the original design and performance specifications. The new glass panel also needed to provide durability, thermal performance, and long-term reliability suitable for Singapore’s tropical climate.

Solution: Low-E Tempered Laminated Glass Canopy Replacement
House of Glass replaced the damaged canopy with a custom-fabricated 13.52 mm thick Low-E tempered laminated glass panel designed for overhead safety applications.
The replacement glass consisted of:
- 6 mm Low-E tempered safety glass outer layer
- 1.52 mm structural PVB interlayer
- 6 mm clear tempered safety glass inner layer
Low-E (low emissivity) glass was selected to improve thermal performance by reducing heat transfer while maintaining clarity and durability.
Tempered laminated glass ensures superior strength and safety. In rare breakage situations, the laminated interlayer holds the glass fragments in place, preventing dangerous falling shards.
Scaffolding was erected to enable safe removal of the damaged glass and precise installation of the new canopy panel.
